CRSP/Compustat merged database and Refinitiv Workspaces make practical and up-to-date empirical research possible at the Faculty of Economics.

Empirical research helps prepare students for careers in analytical positions such as research analyst, data scientist, portfolio manager, and other quantitative positions. Demonstrated ability is a "sine qua non" for these positions and a recommendation for skilled jobs in other positions that involve working with large amounts of data.

Refinitiv is a leading global provider of data from major stock exchanges such as Frankfurt, London, Shanghai, New York, Hong Kong and others. Leading academic journals such as "The Journal of Finance", "Journal of Financial Economics" and "The Review of Financial Studies" require empirical research based on sources such as CRSP, Compustat and Datastream.
